Drug and alcohol treatment at Northridge spans a full continuum of programs, from medical detox through residential care, therapy, and aftercare. Northridge Addiction Treatment Center provides physician led addiction treatment for adults in a small, 12 person residential setting, treating substance use alongside co occurring mental health conditions. Each program below is one part of a coordinated path through recovery, matched to where a person is.
Northridge offers a connected set of drug and alcohol treatment programs that cover each stage of recovery, from the first days of withdrawal to long term support. Rather than a single service, treatment here is a continuum, and most people move through several of these programs in sequence. Each has its own dedicated page with the full detail.
Alongside these core programs, treatment draws on evidence based therapies, covered in more depth below.
Addiction treatment works as a continuum of care, where a person steps through levels of decreasing intensity as they stabilize. Understanding that continuum makes the individual programs easier to place. Treatment at Northridge generally follows this arc: medical detox stabilizes the body, residential treatment does the intensive clinical work, and continuing care and aftercare support recovery once the residential stay ends.
Detox is the entry point for anyone physically dependent on a substance, and it flows directly into residential treatment so there is no gap in care. Residential is the most structured level, providing around the clock support during the period when recovery is most fragile. As a person stabilizes, the focus shifts toward maintaining recovery in daily life, which is where continuing care, alumni support, and connection to community resources like 12 step programs and sober living options come in. Northridge is a residential program, so care here is concentrated in the detox and residential stages, with the team helping plan the step down to ongoing support afterward. Lower levels of care that people may step down to elsewhere, such as partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and standard outpatient programs, involve living at home while attending treatment, and they suit people who have stabilized and have a supportive home environment. Knowing where each level fits helps a person understand the full arc of recovery, even though the intensive residential work is the stage that anchors it.
Northridge’s programs are built on evidence based therapies, delivered by licensed clinicians across every stage of treatment. The same core therapies run through detox, residential, and dual diagnosis care, which is what gives treatment its consistency. Each therapy has its own page with the full detail.
Treatment combines individual therapy, group work, and family involvement where appropriate, with the specific mix set by each person’s clinical plan. For people with a co occurring condition, these therapies address the mental health side and the substance use together rather than separately.
Substance abuse treatment at Northridge is physician led, evidence based, and delivered in a deliberately small setting. The facility treats only 12 people at a time, which keeps care individual in a way large centers cannot manage, with clinicians who know each person’s history rather than working from a chart. Treatment is led by a medical team under Dr. Asad Hussain, MD, and the program is Joint Commission accredited and state licensed.
The approach rests on treating the whole person, not just the substance. That means addressing co occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, involving family where it helps, and building the practical skills and outside support that sustain recovery after treatment ends. Two features set the program apart: a genuinely small census, and approved phone and laptop access that lets working professionals get treatment without disconnecting entirely.
The right starting program depends on where a person is with their substance use, which a clinical assessment determines rather than a person having to figure out alone. Someone who is physically dependent and still using generally begins with medical detox, then moves into residential treatment. Someone who has already detoxed elsewhere may enter residential directly. Someone whose addiction is entangled with a mental health condition needs dual diagnosis care from the start, and someone with opioid or alcohol use disorder may be a candidate for medication assisted treatment as part of their plan.
This is why treatment begins with an assessment rather than a fixed program. The assessment looks at the substance involved, the severity and length of use, physical dependence, any co occurring conditions, and a person’s history with treatment, and it uses all of that to recommend a starting point and a path. No one is expected to self diagnose which level of care they need. The point of a continuum is that a person can enter at the right stage and move through the rest as their recovery progresses, rather than being fit into a single fixed program.
Northridge treats adults facing addiction to alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, and other substances, including those with co occurring mental health conditions. The programs serve people at different stages, from someone who needs medically supervised detox to someone stepping into residential treatment after detoxing elsewhere. Couples affected by addiction can be treated together where it is clinically appropriate, through our couples treatment program.
Treatment is matched to the person through a clinical assessment at intake, which determines the right starting program and maps out the path from there. If you are unsure which program fits your situation, that assessment is where it becomes clear, and our team can talk you through it before you commit to anything.
Your health insurance may help cover the cost of treatment at Northridge, and the amount depends on your specific plan. We work with Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Blue Shield of California, Health Net, UnitedHealthcare, and Kaiser Permanente, and we verify your benefits in about 15 minutes, free and confidential. Coverage varies by plan and by program, and the fastest way to know what yours includes is to have our admissions team check it for you.
You do not need your policy details in hand to begin. Submit the verification form or call +1 (747) 293 4326, and our admissions team will explain what your coverage includes in clear terms, with no obligation. Understanding your coverage is a practical first step toward getting into treatment.
The most effective treatment combines medically supervised detox, residential or intensive clinical care, evidence based therapies like CBT and DBT, and continuing support after treatment. No single element works alone, which is why a connected continuum of care produces better outcomes. The right combination is matched to the person through a clinical assessment.
The main programs are medical detox, residential or inpatient treatment, dual diagnosis treatment for co occurring conditions, medication assisted treatment, and outpatient care. They form a continuum, from the most structured detox and residential care to lower intensity ongoing support. Northridge provides the detox and residential stages, with therapy and aftercare planning throughout.
Residential treatment at Northridge typically runs 30 days, though the right length depends on clinical needs, and some people benefit from a longer stay. Detox usually takes 5 to 14 days beforehand, depending on the substance. Length of stay is a clinical decision, set with you rather than by a fixed schedule.
Integrated treatment, where one team addresses the addiction and the mental health condition together, is the approach best supported by evidence. Treating the two separately produces worse outcomes because they are connected. Northridge treats dual diagnosis in one coordinated program.
Northridge allows approved phone and laptop access during residential treatment, which is less common than the traditional model that removes devices. Access is structured so it supports recovery rather than distracting from it. This makes treatment realistic for working professionals who cannot fully disconnect.
Your plan may cover treatment, and coverage depends on your specific benefits. We work with major carriers including Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Blue Shield of California, Health Net, UnitedHealthcare, and Kaiser Permanente. Verify your benefits with our admissions team in about 15 minutes at no cost.

“My experience at Northridge Addiction Treatment Center was one of the most rewarding and life changing experiences I have ever had. The staff was amazing; it was very obvious from the start that they truly cared about the clients. They have supported me so much in my recovery and I will be forever grateful for everything they have done for me. I feel that they will continue to support me in my recovery journey even after I go home. I have also made some of the closest and supportive friends I have ever met. I look forward to a lifetime of true friendship with all of them. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this amazing experience. I love you my friends, and I will carry you with me always.”
“I came to Northridge Addiction Treatment Center in Encino back in March not knowing exactly what I needed, only that I wanted to find the right path for my life. What I found there was more than just a treatment program, I found people who genuinely cared about me, my sobriety, and my future. From day one, I felt seen and supported. I believe that God put me here for a reason, and I want to especially recognize Andy Woodward, who had a massive impact on me. He has a way of breaking down the 12 steps that made them feel doable instead of overwhelming. His groups were some of the most engaging and eye opening experiences I’ve ever had. He made recovery feel like something I could truly own. I also had an incredible counselor, Jude, who listened deeply and helped me work through some of the harder personal things I had buried for years. There are many others I’m so grateful for, Brian, Anthony, Pat, Olivia, Jen, Justin, and Clint. Each one of them played a part in helping me find hope again. This place didn’t just teach me how to stay sober, it taught me how to live with purpose. If you’re even slightly considering getting help, NATC could be that life changing chapter you didn’t know you needed.”
“This has been the most rewarding experience of my life and I’ve made great friends. Jude my counselor was fantastic and very in tune with me during our session. I would like to give a shout out to Andy Woodward who made this experience more fun.
