Insurance Plans We Work With
Northridge Addiction Treatment Center works with most major insurance plans to cover addiction treatment, and finding out what your plan covers takes just a few minutes. We work with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna, Evernorth, Highmark, First Health, ComPsych, TRICARE, and Magellan. Verification is free, confidential, and carries no obligation to enter treatment.
Your insurance can cover treatment at Northridge Addiction Treatment Center whether or not you recognize the name on your card. We work with these plans:
One of the largest health insurers in the country, with strong behavioral health coverage.
California’s Blue Cross licensee, covering treatment across the state.
National coverage, with addiction benefits administered through Evernorth.
The behavioral health administrator for many Cigna plans; if your card says Evernorth, we work with it.
A Blue Cross Blue Shield plan serving members who travel or relocate to California.
A national network many employer plans use for out of area care.
One of the largest behavioral health and employee assistance providers.
Coverage for active duty service members, veterans, and their families.
A behavioral health administrator managing addiction benefits for many employer and health plans.
Some of these names are health plans and some are the behavioral health administrators that manage addiction benefits on a larger plan’s behalf. This is why the name that matters for coverage is sometimes different from the logo on your insurance card. Evernorth manages benefits for many Cigna members. ComPsych and Magellan administer behavioral health coverage for employers and health plans that carry a different name on the front of the card. If the name on your card is not on this list, it often still connects to a plan we work with, and a quick verification tells you for certain.
Does Insurance Cover Rehab?
Yes. Insurance covers addiction treatment. Under the Affordable Care Act and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, health plans are required to cover substance use disorder treatment the same way they cover other medical care, which means detox, residential treatment, and dual diagnosis care are covered benefits on most plans rather than optional add ons.
What differs from plan to plan is not whether treatment is covered but how much of the cost your plan carries and what documentation it asks for first. Some plans ask for approval before a residential admission; others do not. The verification call is how we turn “covered in general” into the specific picture for your plan, and it is the reason this page leads with a form rather than a promise.
What Your Plan Can Cover at Northridge
Most plans we work with can cover the full course of care we provide at our Encino facility. We are a residential program, and the levels of care your benefits can apply to include:
- Medical detox: Medical detox is the first step for many people, where withdrawal is managed under medical supervision. Most plans cover medically supervised detox because it is medically necessary for safe withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, and benzodiazepines.
- Residential treatment: Residential treatment is the core of our program: 24 hour care in a private, 12 bed setting where you live on site through the clinical phase of recovery. Coverage for residential care is where plans most often ask for prior approval, which we handle for you.
- Dual diagnosis treatment: Dual diagnosis treatment addresses a substance use disorder and a co occurring mental health condition together. Because parity law covers mental health and addiction under the same benefit, dual diagnosis care is typically covered on the same terms as substance only treatment.
- Medication assisted treatment: Medication assisted treatment, including our methadone program, combines FDA approved medication with clinical care. MAT is covered by most plans and often carries lower out of pocket cost than residential care because it is delivered over a longer outpatient course.
What Treatment Costs With Insurance
What you pay depends on your specific plan, not on a published price. Two people with cards from the same insurer can owe different amounts based on their deductible, their plan’s structure, and where they are in their plan year, which is why any honest answer to “how much does rehab cost in California” starts with verifying your benefits rather than quoting a number.
When we verify your plan, we confirm exactly what your insurance covers for treatment at Northridge, what portion your plan expects you to carry, and whether anything needs approval before admission. You get the real figure for your situation before you commit to anything. That conversation takes a few minutes and costs nothing.
How Insurance Verification Works
Verifying your benefits is simple and there is nothing to prepare. Here is what happens after you reach out:
- Step 1: Submit the form on this page or call +1 (747) 293 4326. You give us your name, contact information, and the insurance details from your card. It takes about a minute.
- Step 2: We contact your insurance carrier directly. Our admissions team works with your plan using the member services line, so you do not have to sit on hold or decode benefit language.
- Step 3: We confirm your coverage. We find out which levels of care your plan covers, what your plan expects you to pay, and whether any approval is needed before you start.
- Step 4: We call you back with the specifics. Usually within a few minutes, you get a clear picture of your coverage for treatment at Northridge and your options from here.
- Step 5: If you choose to move forward, we coordinate the next step. We handle any approval your plan requires and schedule your clinical assessment and admission.
What If I Don’t Have Insurance?
Our online verification form requires an active insurance provider and Member ID so our admissions team can check your benefits right away. If you do not currently have insurance coverage, please call our 24/7 admissions line directly at +1 (747) 293 4326 so we can talk through your situation and help connect you with appropriate options or community referrals.
What If My Plan Denies or Delays Coverage?
Most plans cover addiction treatment, but a plan can still ask for more before it approves a stay, and a denial is not the end of the road. Insurers most often question a residential admission on the grounds of medical necessity, meaning they want documentation that this level of care is clinically required. Our clinical team provides exactly that documentation, and when a plan pushes back, we file the appeal on your behalf.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does insurance cover medical detox and residential rehab?
Yes. Federal parity law requires most health plans to cover substance use disorder treatment, including detox, residential care, and dual diagnosis treatment. What varies by plan is your share of the cost and whether approval is needed before admission, which we confirm during verification.
Is rehab covered by insurance if I go out of my area?
Often, yes. Many plans cover treatment at a facility outside your home area, and networks like First Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans such as Highmark are built for exactly that situation. Verifying your benefits confirms what your specific plan allows.
Do rehab centers take insurance?
Yes. Northridge Addiction Treatment Center works with most major insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Anthem Blue Cross, and others. We verify your specific benefits before admission so there are no surprises.
How much does rehab cost in California?
It depends on your plan, not on a set price, because your deductible and plan structure determine your share of the cost. We verify your benefits and give you the specific figure for your situation in a few minutes, at no cost.
